Our primary services are printing and the production of exhibition and display systems. Our printing services are primarily digital and as such do not use printing plates or any hazardous chemicals. Paper wastage is minimal as our make ready process is usually only a few sheets, unlike conventional lithographic printing. We advise clients on the benefits of printing only what is required as we offer print on-demand. Where lithographic print is used we aim for the majority to be FSC* approved.

In order to promote good environmental practices, our environmental policy is:

  1. To identify the significant environmental impacts of our activities.
  2. To develop suitable objectives, targets and management programmes, applying appropriate operational procedures to minimise our significant environmental impacts during normal, abnormal and emergency conditions.
  3. To comply with relevant legislation, regulation and other requirements relating to our significant environmental impacts.
  4. To prevent pollution, minimise our inputs of utilities and resources and the outputs of emissions to the atmosphere, effluents to waters/sewers and wastes to disposal facilities; endeavouring to re-use, recover or recycle materials where practicable.
  5. To ensure that environmental responsibilities are defined, communicated and understood at all levels within our organisation and provide appropriate training where needed.
  6. To ensure that suppliers and contractors understand the Company Policy and assist them in developing appropriate systems and a responsible approach with regard to environmental issues.
  7. To communicate, co-operate and respond to the views of interested parties, customers and the general public, on environmental issues, where this is practicable and likely to result in an overall improved environmental performance.
  8. To strive for continual improvement in overall environmental performance.

Energy Use

Elephant Graphics Ltd. strives to minimise the use of energy resulting from its activities through making energy efficiency a key consideration when purchasing and maintaining lighting, heating and printing equipment.

Waste

Where possible we minimize the use of paper in our offices. Waste resulting from our operations will be reduced, reused or recycled where practicable. Where possible all ink and toner cartridges for printing equipment within Elephant Graphics is returned to the supply company for recycling or third party companies for refilling and reuse. Elephant Graphics will strive to minimise the amount of packaging on outgoing products and to re-use as much incoming packaging as possible. Any remaining waste will be disposed of by licensed contractors.

Procurement

When purchasing Elephant Graphics uses environmental responsibility as a factor in its decisions and therefore help minimise our impact on the environment. Where possible we strive to purchase products and services from companies with proven environmental performance. We ensure any sub-contracted print suppliers adhere to environmental programmes.

Communications & Travel

Minimise all company travel by utilising latest technology; email, web systems, file transfer, fax or phone to conduct communications with clients and suppliers. Extensive efforts have been made by Elephant Graphics to promote print purchasing online and via e-mail rather than the traditional sales representative/client visit model.

Training

Train staff to ensure that the workforce understands the actual and potential environmental impacts of both individual and company activities, and environmental policy commitments. Actively promote the communication of issues concerning the environment to staff, suppliers and customers through appropriate means.
